Overview:
The OBL (Original Bill of Lading) field is vital in the claims process, allowing users to input the unique Bill of Lading number for each cargo. This is crucial for precise identification when multiple cargoes are processed at the same port. Each cargo generates a tag that links specific events on the Statement of Facts (SOF) to the corresponding cargo and OBL number. This system facilitates quick identification and enables Voyager's Rebilling feature to work effectively, improving organization and efficiency in managing claims.
Users can input larger values in the OBL field (up to 250 characters), allowing companies to include internal IDs for more flexibility. A tooltip feature will display the full value when hovering over the OBL field, ensuring clarity and accessibility.
How to use:
On the SOF validation page, add cargo information to your port call at the top right of the screen. Be sure to complete all required fields: OBL, Cargo, Quantity, Unit, and Counterparty.
You can also add the cargo info, including the OBL, directly to the portcall by clicking the “edit” button from the laytime calc within the portcall.
After entering this information, a tag will be generated to reflect the details associated with each created cargo. Each tag can then be allocated to the relevant event on the SOF.
Once all relevant events have been tagged and the validation process is complete, click ‘Done.’ All tags will then be visible on the Demurrage Calculator for quick reference.
